The IWA Project Innovation Awards
In keeping with IWA’s mission of “connecting water professionals worldwide to lead the development of effective and sustainable approaches to water management”, IWA established the Project Innovation Awards Programme to recognise excellence and innovation in water engineering projects throughout world, as identified by five key criteria:
- Originality and Innovation
- Future Value to the engineering profession
- Social, Economic and Sustainable design
- Complexity
- Exceeds client/owner needs
Why should you participate in the Project Innovation Awards?
The PIA focuses on engineering excellence in water and features project team successes of the contractor, consultant and even community. It also highlights global best practices and innovation.

- Display of the winning entries at the IWA World Water Congress
- Featured article in IWA’s global newsmagazine, Water21
- Use of the PIA Certificate in advertising
