General Criteria
 
The 2012 Global Project Innovation Awards is now open for submission till 15 May 2012. All regional winners and honour awardees will be automatically be advanced to the Global competition.

The North American Regional PIA Competition is conducted through The American Academy of Environmental Engineers' (AAEE) "Excellence in Environmental Engineering (E3) Awards". All winners of the 2011 and 2012 E3 Awards will be eligible to compete for the 2012 IWA Global PIA. Entries from winners of North American region must be received on or before 15 May 2012 to be consider for the Global Awards.

The guidelines for entering the PIA competition are as follows:
 
1. An entrant may submit more than one entry in any category or region up to a maximum of 5 entries.
2. A project may be entered only once in any category. However, it may be entered in a different category in a future year if relevant.
3. Projects that have previously received an award from another organisation are eligible to apply.
4. The competition is open to applicants who may be individuals, companies, organisations, governmental bodies, or any combination of the above, whether or not the organisation is a member of IWA.
5. The work entered must have been completed to such an extent that the performance can be assessed by the judging panel. Projects completed before 1st Jan 2010 will not be eligible.
6. A project may be entered into a regional base if it either :- (a) project was executed in a location within the regional base, or (b) the company or organisation responsible for the project is based within the regional base.
7. Each entry must comprise of:

- An official entry form
- Zip file containing the relevant submission materials
- PowerPoint presentation
- Entry fee

8. Winners and honourable mentions of the Regional Awards will automatically be advanced for consideration for the Global Awards.
9. Winners and Honour Awardees are required to produce a laminated poster panel (80cm (W) X 120cm (H)) for display at the regional and global awards ceremonies.
10. IWA reserves the right to use the entry materials as appropriate for the purposes of the PIA programme .
11. IWA reserves the right to determine the eligibility, category and regional classification for all entries.
